A new journey!
Last year my grandchildren voiced their concerns about pollution in the oceans. This motivated me into making crocheted toy turtles and “Kups of Joy” (from reused clean coffee Kcups). After a couple of years promoting my crocheted items, I want to create new textile products.
Having experience as a seamstress, I've researched and experimented with sewing items. However, I am increasingly aware of textile waste. (This refers to fabric scraps generated while sewing as well as discarded garments). Unfortunately, I discovered that even though garments may be donated to charities (like Goodwill), a high percentage of the unused donations are tossed into landfills. The fashion industry generates 17 million tons of textile waste each year. I am not interested in adding to this waste. Luckily, I found substantial amounts of available fabric in denim jeans that are no longer needed.
Now I’m off onto another creative journey! I’m happily crafting denim items and writing educational materials on recycling and ecology. My new outlook will continue to share the knowledge with handcrafted gifts and provide unique treasures for your enjoyment. Keep an eye on my Catalog for new products.
